something from the distant past, a bit from the diary I kept when I was pregnant

'Nine and a half weeks -I feel very far away from everything. Mostly I feel far away from myself. Ideas in my head just out of reach. Where is the Nau Sea? Can I go there? Before he went away today, we walked through the park. The wind was strong. I picked up some conkers on the way. It was horrible after he had gone. My peach today had a double kernal.'

(someone is going to have to tell me how to do tags! I know if I just fiddle around here, I will mess something up and lose my post or worse...)

all existing tags will appear with check boxes at the upper right corner of the "post" screen. simply click in the box to check it and when you click the "post" button, it will appear under your name/link/comments line. to add a new tag, look to the top of the post screen and you will see "tags", click on that, then click on "add".

What a sweet memory. So cool that you kept the diary. Will you pass it on to your child/children?

I'm planning to pass it on when she is a bit older. I used to let her look at it when she was little, (before she could read) she liked looking at the polaroids of my big belly. It's stuffed full of other stuff too, like letters and cuttings and my medical notes. But since I'm still of childbearing age, I think I ought to hang on to it just in case. You never know!

What are conkers? Inquiring minds would like to know!

That's so special, I wish I thought of keeping a pregnancy journal.

'conkers' is the name for the seeds from horse chestnut trees in the UK. I find them irresistable objects when they first fall down in the autumn and burst out of their prickly cases, so shiny and glossy brown. Um, I'll look up the latin name...Aesculus hippocastanum. In the same family of trees as Yellow Buckeye or Sweet Buckeye and Red Buckeye.
